Azimuth Watch Care & Guide
Like any precision instrument, your AZIMUTH timepiece needs periodic servicing to ensure consistent high performance. We recommend that your timepiece be cleaned and oiled every 3–5 years by an official representative in your country. We keep spare parts in stock for many years and can therefore guarantee repairs over a long period.
Automatic models generally have a power reserve of at least 38 hours when not worn. Should your automatic watch stop after a period of non-usage, we recommend that you manually wind the crown for about 15–20 times to give the watch some power reserve to operate smoothly.
If you have a hand-winding AZIMUTH, it is advisable to wind it at the same time every day to ensure the best accuracy.
Every AZIMUTH timepiece has been tested in our workshops for water resistance and condensation. However, we recommend that you have your AZIMUTH checked once every 2 years by an authorised AZIMUTH dealer.
Although your AZIMUTH is to a certain degree shock-resistant, abuse and blows should nevertheless be avoided to ensure precision performance of this delicate instrument. Please also note that hard knocks on the winding crown, glass, or push buttons can impair the water-resistance performance.
Any servicing carried out by third parties not approved by AZIMUTH will automatically invalidate the warranty; in which case, any damage will be rectified at your expense.
Warning: To ensure that your AZIMUTH timepiece continues to perform at its highest accuracy, avoid placing your timepiece near magnetic objects (speakers, televisions, computers, etc.) or subjecting it to extreme temperatures (e.g. leaving your watch in a car parked under the sun).
If your AZIMUTH timepiece comes with a date function, pull the crown out to the first notch. Turning the crown advances the date rapidly, which is particularly useful during months ending with less than 31 days. During this adjustment the watch functions normally.
To set the time, pull the crown out to the last notch. Turn the crown downwards (towards you) to set to the desired time.
Specific instruction for watches equipped with Universal Geneve Microtor movement:
If your timepiece is equipped with a Universal Microtor movement, pull the crown to the first notch to set the time. Pulling the crown to the second notch yields no function.
Warning 1: When quick-setting the date function, it is highly recommended that you avoid activating this function between 10 to 2 o’clock to ensure smooth operation of the date function.
Warning 2: To ensure water resistance of your timepiece, please push the crown back to its original position after time setting.
AZIMUTH chronographs combine the advantages of an accurate stopwatch and precision timing with the protection of a solid case. To activate the chronograph function, press the top chronograph button. This push-button, when pressed, starts the second hand moving.
When pressed a second time, at the end of the time-check, the same button stops the second hand moving.
To reset the chronograph function, press the bottom chronograph button. At this instance, the center seconds recorder hand will fly back to its zeroed position. It also resets the minute and hour recorders to zero if the check has lasted for more than one minute. Always stop the chronograph by pressing the upper push-button before resetting.
Standard time display is by the usual hour, minute, and second hands.
The Minute Register Counter is located at the 3 o’clock position, records the number of minutes that have elapsed, up to a maximum of 30 minutes.
If your timepiece comes with an hour register counter, a check lasting up to 12 hours is recorded on this small dial located at the 6 o’clock position.
AZIMUTH retrograde timepieces come in modern regulator-style configuration, and multiple time recordings can be read off from the appropriate counters.
Warning 1: Avoid turning the retrograde counter hands in an anti-clockwise direction.
Warning 2: Avoid rapid flyback of the retrograde hands when doing time setting. Please turn the crown slowly to set to the desired time.
For the retrograde-minute function, a count of 60 minutes is recorded before the retrograde minute hand flies back to zero.
For the retrograde-hour function, a count of 12 hours is recorded before the retrograde hour hand flies back to its 12-hour position.
The two moons on the disc are made visible as an artistic expression. To track the phases of the moon, use the top half section of the moon phase display. The moon disc completes one revolution (every 29.5 days) over two lunar months, and is driven by a 59-tooth wheel which advances one notch every 24 hours.
The moon phase can be corrected by pressing on the corrector located at the 8 o’clock side of the watch. Each press turns the disc forward by one day.
